Location: farmland 10km past Buchan

Distance: 45km

Time: 9-8pm

Thought of the day:
A small part of Hitler has reincarnated into every fly

What I learnt:
Do not hang out at abandoned Rodeo’s

Thankyous:
– lady at Buchan takeaways for opening her kitchen for us and being a general legend
– s2s7 sponsors Bivouac Outdoors
– movember
– the big guy
– Sarah Pellett

Note:
This was the first of our four really long days. Ryan and I caught up on sleep and set off just after 9. 11 hours and 45km later with sore feet and sleep on the mind we arrived at a flat patch of grass to set up camp. This was a very long day and our first big test. The scenery just kept getting more beautiful as we headed away from the towns. Green grass, rolling hills and bush much like back home were a welcomed sight. At around 25km we saw an old rodeo building and thought this would be a good place to try and get some more water, instead we were greeted by the worlds grumpiest lady that told us to “clear off” as we were calmly sitting on a log by the road. Thankfully the friendly locals at Buchan 7km down the road put our ideals about hostile locals to bed. We are now just 1/4 of the way to the summit but after another long day tomorrow that will put us closer to half way. Our reception is dwindling and almost gone so don’t go calling in the choppers if you don’t hear from us for a few days.

  1. David & Ryan – you guys walking along the Buchan-Gelantipy Rd on Saturday night & Sunday morning. Driving by, I thought: WTF? So I had to stop & say hi. Good luck on your trek to the mountain. Be safe & happy in your travels. Cheers, Vera
