Thankyou: Physio Mechanics (Takanini Physio) , Kim Cooper (podiatrist), my other brain Rich Henry, and of course the big dude guiding me from above
Notes:
During the run on day three I was stepping onto a curb and misjudged the height which hyper-dorsiflexed my ankle, I didn’t think much of it at the time so kept running. Once I had finished it started to become really sore so I iced it and wrapped it in a compression bandage overnight. I also have developed cracks in my other heel which are painful and annoying. In the morning it was pretty tender and tired from staying up to watch all of the New Years fireworks and celebrations with Rich and some new friends so I needed to have a think about what would be the best plan of attack going forward.
If I ran 11km today then that would leave exactly 84km left to get to the entrance of Mt Aconcagua, which is another two marathons in two days. I have already lost three kg’s, so today my plan was to smash my body full of food and electrolytes to get me ticking again. I have to remind myself that this is not a race and I am making my own rules but having daily goals helps keep me motivated and focused. There comes a point though where if you jump too far for a stone then you fall in the river.
Tomorrow is going to be awesome! Running through a gorge and into the mountains whilst following the Aconcagua River. I feel a change of scenery and off the busy highways will be just what I need.
Cheers
Dave
Oh and we found this sweet wrecked plane on the side of the road! We got chased away before getting into the cockpit though
